Great photo realism and very compelling story on the creation of this art. The artist suffered nerve damage in his painting arm prior to starting this piece. Once the feeling started to return to his hand he was ready to start this piece, but could not grasp the brush. As a result, this piece was painted over a three-month period with the brush duct taped to his hand the entire time! True story! This is so realistic in appearance, it looks like a photograph.

These original watercolors are in a private collection, but Nova Fjords has licensed them for use in their product line. Mary Pratt purchased the first fjord in Nova Scotia and enjoyed her for many, many years. She is an advocate of the breed, as well as an accomplished artist. We are very pleased to offer her collection of fjord memories.
These images are available for a variety of uses - from notepads, calendars, and stationary to promotional use. They are a part of the design of other manufactured goods such as plates, sportswear, etc. Each of these originals has been reproduced to the greeting/note card and is available as a small matted print. From the artist:
On the bottom carved into the stone is a viking symbolized horse then loosely filled with copper (this doesn't show well on the photo.
There is also a viking symbol at the top (doesn't show well on photo either) that is made of braided copper lightning wire from my old barn.
There is a small leather "chain" embroidered into the paper on the right. And rune carving in the stone to the bottom left side.
I like all the "connections" and overlay of materials.
